Authenticate.php

TLDR

The Authenticate.php file is part of the Illuminate\Auth\Middleware namespace and provides middleware functionality for authentication. It implements the AuthenticatesRequests interface and handles incoming requests by authenticating the user.

Methods

using($guard, ...$others)

Specifies the guards for the middleware. This method returns a string.

handle($request, Closure $next, ...$guards)

Handles an incoming request and passes it to the next middleware. This method returns the result of the next middleware's handle method.

authenticate($request, array $guards)

Determines if the user is logged in to any of the given guards. This method is called internally and does not return a value.

unauthenticated($request, array $guards)

Handles an unauthenticated user. This method throws an AuthenticationException.

redirectTo(Request $request)

Gets the path the user should be redirected to when they are not authenticated. This method returns a string or null.

redirectUsing(callable $redirectToCallback)

Specifies the callback that should be used to generate the redirect path. This method does not return a value.
